7 Day Challenge about a dumb idea gone wrong.
Positives: From a visual perspective - this piece is so strong. The shooting style, the lighting, and the color grade are all beautiful and work so well together to both tell the story and convey the mood, while also building tension! The text overlays of them typing also look great, and are super clean. The use of music and sound to build tension is also great!
Improvements: The story could have used some more explaining. The teacher yelling at them felt really out of nowhere, since I didn't know what they had done yet. And then the fight between the two boys also felt a bit off, since we didn't understand what this stupid idea was yet. When we finally do cut outside and see the real estate agent outside, the payoff didn't feel like it was enough to justify how dramatic the first half was. Sometimes the pacing of the editing felt a bit off. For example, when the main character first goes into the bathroom and hears the knock on the stall door - we don't have enough time to process the noise for us to be alarmed and for the suspense to be built around who would be in there. It then makes the payoff of it being the friends much less impactful.
Positives: Good choice of angles in the first half of the film. The texting in the first scene was shown in an interesting way.
Improvements: The actors were not convincing. Their line delivery could be improved. The ending did not explain the story. What was the dumb idea? Who is the dude in the end?
