• 3/3 11:38 am - Story: I think the story is clear- it’s some sort of documentary about the disappearance of Caira. The problem is that this doesn’t do a great job of making us care. I don’t know her, and we don’t learn almost anything about her. We meet some people who know her, but we’re not given much reason to care about them either. So, I’d say that the story is clear but not as compelling as it could be. Camera: Not a ton to say here. The documentary style gives you cover for a lot of bad camera work. But I’d argue that this is most effective when used in contrast to a more polished style. (Think The Office, for example.) Some of your framing is just bad, and I don’t get why. Lighting: No real red flags here. Seems like you used available light, and for the most part, your shots are well lit. Sound: Some solid work here. The initial fade in of your music could be smoother, but I think your mix is pretty solid. It sounds like you’re interviewing an administrator while were watching someone text, which I found confusing. But overall, your sound was okay. Editing: Okay, overall, but lacks polish. I’d open with a fade in or something. And the abrupt ending could easily fade out. Final thoughts: A good start. Keep at it.
