  • 4/24 5:38 pm - Fast paced editing. Catches the viewer's attention. Good use of split screen. Titles/graphics at the end work well.
  • 4/20 8:51 am - Fantastic AND played like a commercial! Music choice was perfect and adding the text of the lyrics was a nice touch...I wish it was in there more! The font choice was spot on. The split screen and color throughout the video screamed Urban Outfitters. Great editing choices.
  • 3/11 6:42 pm - Your music selection and pacing of shots are stylistically appropriate for your demographic. The split screen/duel image convention is consistent with your overall approach. The various locations used throughout the piece allow you to showcase the clothing in a more dynamic fashion. I wish you could have incorporated a similar variety in clothing and time (the different scenes appeared to be shot around the same time). Using text indicating "winter fashion" in the background worked well. I am wondering if you may have wanted to use this technique to introduce the Urban Outfitters brand? Your commercial emphasizes a line of clothing, but it also should be advertising the brand itself. The branding did not occur until the end of the commercial. Continue work with visual and transitional effects that will ad energy to your content as well as draw additional attention to critical elements in the frame.
  • 3/7 4:26 pm - You Nailed It! SOUND Your music was quick, fast paced, trendy, just like the the urban oufitters brand. Music kept me engaged. STORY Obviously there is not to much of a story but in this case it is ok, maybe a few more models/outfits but the fast pace allowed you to get away with the two. The shots near the end seemed to slow down which made me think on the first view that the green camera was important and the product being featured. I guess if I could suggest maintaining the pace to the end and keep you audience wondering throughout would have been better, that way the camera wouldn’t have stood out to me. CAMERA Great variety of shots, angles, close ups. EDITING This is what made your commercial. Great post production decisions. It was engaging, fresh, different, like I said you captured the brand of urban outfitters and made a commercial that would draw that target audience in. Good job.

Positives: 1. I like the editing - very edgy and on brand for Urban Outfitters. 2. Great music choice - edgy and brand appropriate.

Improvements: 1. I would have liked to see more of a story and less lifestyle only. 2. I would have liked a VO end tag as well, direct people to UO.

Positives: Nice music track. Good energy overall. Really like how type at end vibes with the music.

Improvements: There is no clear concept here, which is often the case for fashion brand advertising, but in that case you could have at least added more outfits. For example, every time the girls appeared in a different location, they could have been in a new outfit. This could have helped convey the busy lifestyle/on-the-go-collection vibe your write up includes, and added visual interest/intrigue that could function as a story of sorts. The white area and Power Point looking tiles don't enhance the overall look of the spot - they take visual real estate away from the clothing and feel a bit cheap. Use the whole canvas and find cooler transitions from scene to scene. Use some more mid-range shots to show more detail on clothing.

Positives: great energy and music choice. the text things were cool...coulda used them more to emphasize the point of the commercial nice timing on a lot of your cuts. Footage all matched

Improvements: music fades far too long at the end...look for that natural ending and edit the song accordingly somewhere along the line, while you're showing all these shots, gotta put something in there pointing to Urban Outfitters...a storefront shot? a shot of the sign? a tag in the jacket...no idea what the story is until the very end with the final screen. gotta end at :30 not :34...budget your time to end on time.
