Entry Description
This is a food waste PSA that I created for my PSA assignment in TV broadcasting class. The objective was to create a :30-:60 PSA that was clear and concise, but we could only choose from three predesignated categories. The entirety of this video was filmed in a local grocery store.

- 3/13 10:50 am - Good message with the online resource at the end. But the story comes up short when the visuals, although they sometimes support the stats you feature, all show fresh PACKAGED food. The point at which a person makes the decision to throw lunch away at school, for example, is a missed opportunity, if your audience is students.
- 3/12 9:33 pm - Positives: The backdrop of a super market was a great way to visualize the problem of food waste and your voice over combined with peers speaking was also relatively effective. I liked the disappearing bread loaves when discussing the 40% statistic. Improvements: I'm not really sure why you stopped providing voice over. Titles and statistics lose so much of their power when there is no voice behind them. Moreover a lot of the later statistics were not on screen long enough for audiences to read them comfortably. By using voice over, you're forcing editors to leave titles on screen for the right amount of time. The pacing of the whole PSA was a bit frenetic. You only used about half of the allotted time. I would have slowed down some of your shots to give them more impact. Also, I think you needed a different font and style at the end of your PSA. Your existing font for the end card was very bland and the whole title was most likely out of title safe.
- 3/3 10:05 am - Positives: From what I can tell, your stats are accurate. It would really help if you cited your stat in the bottom corner of that same video shot. Creative way to show the 40% graphic by removing four loaves of bread. I noticed the flash the first time, but on second look, I realized why you did it.
- 3/3 10:05 am - Improvements: You had such great spoken voice before you got to the stats, however don't expect people to read your stats. You should have voiced-over those stats as well. Fully engage with the viewer. Also, I would have loved to have seen wasted food, not just clean delicious food. The mood could have shifted halfway through to show trash and waste.
