  • 4/25 9:27 am - Pros - Very strong project overall. Good use of natural light in several different situations. Steady, smooth camera movement. God use of slow motion. Your closeups are the greatest arsenal in your toolbox and you showcase an ability to capture meaningful closeups. Cons - No real use of artificial lighting present, which is not necessarily a bad thing, just missed an opportunity to show range. The shot in the woods with the sun as a backlight is a bit under exposed and distracting. The shot at 1:22 is also a bit dark causing your color to appear muddy.
  • 3/12 10:50 am - Some shots are murky, too dark. Lacrosse shots and mountain shots are nice. Some shots need a color boost because they didn't have the same look as the other shots. Love the way you showed off location and weather.
  • 3/12 7:44 am - some shots are a bit flat and need a bit of contrast and a color boost. the shots by the ocean are great and create a good sense of space
  • 2/28 5:23 pm - I love the moving shots. You handle camera movement really well. I also appreciate the shot (tree trunk in the foreground) where you work with foreground and background, creating a dynamic space for the audience. I would like to see you work with lights a little more. That's certainly is part cinematography. Also seeing you choose from a variety of focal lengths would be great.

Positives: Good use of movement. Nice over cranked shots.

Improvements: I would have liked to see a visual story being told in the 2 mins.

Positives: -Some really good camera movement in here. The movement helps accentuate the tone. -The shot of the dog sled is really awesome. It shows that you had an idea for a shot, set it up, and executed it well. Which is a lot more telling than walking around with a camera and finding shots along the way. I think intention is the most important part of filmmaking.

Improvements: -From an editing perspective, the music is doesn't really help you. It's repetitive and mellow. Even though it's just a reel, it can still tell a story with the images. It can/should still have an arch to it. I would recommend using a slighter higher energy song and doing more to emphasize the really good shots. -When you shoot in slow motion and there are electrical lights in your frame, always make sure your shutter speed is set properly so you don't get weird flicker. Or frame out the things that are prone to flickering. This is in reference to the slow mo shot inside the car, where we see the odometer flashing in the background.

Positives: Your editing with the music worked well and was at a good tempo. All of your shot seemed nice.

Improvements: Your video was almost all outdoor shots. It would be nice to see more variety of your work such as indoor with mood lighting.
