Entry Description

The song Havana to Camila is about her love toward her home city and the song reminds me of my love toward my city, Chicago. In this music video I show my love and show off my city with different shots and views of the city. The video is all recorded during night because to me the city looks better at night with all the lights in buildings and the reflection the moon and lights have on the whole city. Then at night the city seems more relaxed and calm which is the way I feel in Chicago at night.

Your imagery went with the sentiment of the song, you gave the viewer a feeling of loving a city at night. A strip mall parking lot might not be the best setting for your video. Be careful with head room. Try more variety with your composition of the singer. Don’t always put them dead center. Use the rule of thirds and put your subject off to one side.
  • 3/6 1:19 pm - Appreciate the times you edit to the beat- even some of the quick edits- nice job. The singer in the video does a decent job of singing the song. There are too many times, however, that the lips do not match the song, which immediately causes you to lose credibility in the video. Match them up precisely- it's very important. The video has some nice shots in the city, but for every good shot, there's a shaky, unfocused or grainy shot as well. Much of that is because of the lighting- the city provides natural back lighting for many of your shots, but without lighting on the front of your subject, your camera will become grainy. Make sure to use external lighting on your subject to get the best shot. It seems there was a big audio jump in the middle of the song- perhaps to shorten it? It was very obvious- spend more time getting that audio to sound seamless. Tripod! Some very shakey shots, so use a tripod when you can! No theme was evident in the video. Yes, you were in Chicago at night, but it seemed more like a bunch of random shots of the city. Tie those together with an actual storyline to get the point across that you love that city.
