Mixing stop motion, practical effects, and regular cinematics within a studio area to construct a promotion for the high school media & television club.
Positives: --Good use of foreground on tight shots -great angles -Excellent exposure and strong framing --animation of camera was the good kind of choppy, with the cardboard and light not perfect. Very much old animation that people tend to dig when pertinent. Here, it is pertinent. -The story is enough to keep folk watching. The payoff (paint on cardboard) is excellent. -SFX work well mixed. Fits the content. Over-the-top does not work against the piece. -Lighting was good - doesn't detract. Would like to have seen deeper shadows.
Improvements: --You ask too much of the shots. Get the idea and get out. Don't hang on those action shots. It breaks tempo and betrays unnatural movement of the subject. -The loop of the track is sloppy. It stands out. -The production gear cycling through the finished sign: throw a light in there. Very heavy on camera department. -Get rid of the people at the end. Place and time info should have tagged the gear rotating through the payoff shot, like those signs were just more pieces of gear.
Positives: Caught my attention from the beginning! Loved the "animation" of the various media elements and the students involved Loved the final overhead shot of the students involved advertising the club meeting dates and times
Improvements: shorten up the opening dip of the brush nothing else - really liked this piece!
Positives: Nice mix of editing tricks, especially the stop-motion.
Improvements: The sound was off in the beginning. Also, why the extended shots? I think you are going for an effect, but I was a little confused.
