Great use of images as well to enhance everything. It is so great that he has overcome this potentially tragic situation. In my opinion, this is the best one in the category. Great job telling a terrific story!
  • 4/22 3:11 pm - Incredible story. Great hook to the story, but you should have kept his story going without the distraction of his wife's poorly exposed and composed interview. Great tie in with the Crossfit and neighbors who stepped up. He has a lot of great stories- including the dog- the wife's comments don't always work to best support your structure. It would have really been worth it to set up your interviews in a better place, if they were willing to do it.
  • 4/20 2:11 pm - +Good job using photos as b-roll! You have quite a lot. +Good job using newspaper articles as b-roll +Overall, the story is strong. He has quite an inspirational story. -Interviews could use more lighting. -Backgrounds for interviews could be more interesting or at least have some depth
  • 3/5 1:42 pm - Positives: Great story & sequence; excellent use of photos with the Ken Burns effect. Audio quality is great, and the combination of the husband and wife both telling the story is very effective. Music bed creates a pensive mood, which works well and enhances the story. Great job!

Positives: Nice way to kick off this narrative - I know right away what this story is going to be about and I am interested in hearing more. Excellent use of pictures, newspaper clippings etc. to help visually keep this story going and help me understand just how devastating this accident actually was. Nice Broll/Camera work of interview subject working out!

Improvements: Watch the pacing of the moves you put on the pictures. Most of the moves are a bit too fast for the music and story. Try making the moves a little more subtle - slower moves where the pictures "float" in or out would have improved the pacing of this story. Try to find better interview locations with greater depth that might be a bit more creative, homey, living room, kitchen, family room type of settings with family pictures, etc. soft in the back ground.

Positives: This is such a great story! What a beautiful story. Normally I am squeamish but the details of his surgeries are compelling. The footage is fascinating.

Improvements: The tempo of the score is slowing down the narrative. Why is the score so downbeat when the story is not? Score is generic. Visually the footage is dark and can be lightened up via color grading.

Positives: Excellent use and movement of stock photos and newspaper articles. A very inspirational story, well done film all around.

Improvements: Needed end credits for the crew/director. Some of the audio could have been cleaned up a bit.
