  • 4/24 12:12 am - *Strengths: 1. Beautiful video quality 2. Well composed shots 3. Variety of camera angles/positions 4. Focus maintained well, even with shallow depth of field. Areas on which to work: 1. The steps in your process identify what needs to be done and the order in which they need to be completed. You can strengthen your demonstration by providing more information regarding the techniques needed to complete various steps in the procedure. 2. You can strengthen the clarity of your process by incorporating a voice-over narration. Your narration also can include relevant and interesting background information related to your topic. The process alone likely will not be enough to keep the audience engaged. 3. Place more emphasis on finding creative ways to begin and end your pieces. 4. Look for opportunities to make your audio track richer by incorporating some nat sound.
  • 4/2 11:26 am - Shots looked good. Simple recipe so narration was needed but would have added to it. Music was a good choice. Really liked the timer graphic.
  • 3/4 12:07 pm - Shots are well framed and look good in terms of color, focus, etc. Music fits topic. The rolling process seems to cause some problems for the person doing it. What tips can you provide for how to do it more smoothly? I like the way you included the graphics on the side with the list of ingredients/tools.

Positives: Good camera work. Nice effects to support view understanding process.

Improvements: Needed narration. Needed more time for this piece.

Positives: This is an upbeat, graphics-driven piece. It's easy to follow and concise. The editing was very good and there was a nice variety of camera angles. The color scheme in your closing shot is great. The depth of field is aesthetically pleasing. If you cleaned the pan and arranged the rolled ice cream a little differently your ending would be even better.

Improvements: Some of your text graphics are too close to the edge of the frame. Look at where the word "whisk" is positioned at 0:23. That is about as far to the right that the text should go. (It should be the same distance from the left as well.) There are a couple of reasons for that. First, it feels crowded and the second reason it that some projectors and TV sets have a cut off that would chop off anything that is too close to the edge. Iron your table cloth and try to avoid showing the seam. The table cloth is the background and sound not be a point of focus. The textures draw attention.

Positives: This is actually the first time I've ever seen this! Woah! Especially crammed into a 60-second length, you do a really good job providing thorough textual instructions with extremely clear cut footage! Music choice is good, text is not distracting. Really well done!

Improvements: The lighting, mainly at the very beginning, was a little inconsistent when you were showing the ingredients, some items appeared to be in shadow while others were illuminated, and it appeared like there was a camera/lighting reflection in the window. MINOR stuff, though!
