  • 4/23 12:06 am - *Strengths: 1. Video quality 2. Composition - camera angle/positions varied 3. Music selection added to the piece *Areas on which to work: 1. Your narration also can include relevant and interesting background information related to your topic. The process alone likely will not be enough to keep the audience engaged 2. The steps in your process identify what needs to be done and the order in which they need to be completed. You can strengthen your demonstration by providing more information regarding the techniques needed to complete various steps in the procedure. 3. Work on the pacing of your pieces. This demonstration seemed a little rushed. Do not be afraid to vary your rate and incorporate some pauses. 4. The materials section would have been more effective with a stationary background.
  • 3/6 10:30 am - Great use of movement in your shots. Font choice was fitting. Nice swish pan. Great changes of angles and shot composition. Ingredient amounts for filling would have been good. Narration could have been slowed down a bit. Looked very appetizing!
  • 3/3 9:42 pm - Wow, that was a lot of steps! You covered them well, with a variety of shots. The music fit pretty well. The narrator was clear, but it would have benefitted from a few more pauses. It was very matter of fact, could be a bit friendlier. Would benefit from graphics to help keep track of ingredients.

Positives: Good video effects to support list of ingredients. Nice camera work and lighting. Good shots for viewers to be able to understand action. Lots of work making this, good job.

Improvements: Narrative speaking too fast and hard to understand and too fast for visual to follow. Seemed rushed.

Positives: Even though I critiqued the lack of a tripod for the food shots, the composition of each shot was thought out and effective. The lighting complimented the food. It looks appetizing. It also supports the way making pierogis can be fun and simple. The overall look and feel is upbeat. It also feels like this is a family event or at least something that is important to the family.

Improvements: Here are a couple of suggestions that will help to make this even better. Use a tripod to stabilize your shots. Most of the cooking shots were handheld. That movement along with the action that was happening in what you were shooting created a very active screen. This took attention away from the content of the video. Try to shoot a part of the tablecloth (at :14) without the folds. Make sure it is flat and wrinkle free as well.

Positives: Overall, I really enjoyed your video!! Very smooth editing, I love the quick cutting and stop-motion of the food items appearing at the very beginning (as well as the crunching at the very end). Your shots are all incredibly quick and the whole video moves at an incredibly fast pace. You never take time to linger on anything un-necessary. You get right to the point of everything! Filming indoors and in a kitchen can sometimes be a nightmare for lighting, but honestly this video looks fantastic. Very clear and well presented. The music choice was equally as fun.

Improvements: This is a relatively small comment, and I'm assuming you were given a time limit for this video length that ties into this, but I notice at the beginning your voice-over talks incredibly fast, and gradually slows as the video goes. It's not the end of the world, everything is audible and clear, just beware of the speech speed. As I said though, ridiculously small thing.
