  • 4/25 8:31 pm - Interesting story and well told. Enjoyed how you used footage from his shows and told a linear story into how he has gotten to the point where he is now. It was smart to interview him in the auditorium but I felt you would have benefited from another voice in the piece, it was so much just his perspective.
  • 4/22 3:30 pm - Really interesting and unique story. Great idea to start with the old footage, but it was really difficult to read the text at the beginning. Good use of music, but it feels a bit forced and too much towards the end- he carries it really well on his own as a professional performer.
  • 4/20 3:13 pm - +Good attention getter! Love the old footage...it becomes a little distracting once he starts talking +Well edited--moves at a nice pace +nicely composes interview. Technically also well done. +Meaningful ending...very nice! -Text is a little basic, could come up with a more interesting font
  • 3/5 2:36 pm - Positives: Engaging opening! Perfect setting for the interview. Good balance of interview footage and B-roll; Areas for improvement: Opening text is tough to read against light areas of the footage; When using low-res images behind a smaller frame of the image, blur the image more to add emphasis to the center shot; animated graphics don't need the sound effect; ending would be more dynamic by closing with the interview footage rather than a still image when he was younger. Story would benefit from more shot variety-- that's tough to get with the footage of the shows, but perhaps the interview footage could have had multiple angles.

Positives: Nice job finding the early home movies and using it as a jumping off point.

Improvements: Sound mix could be improved - the "nats" of him singing in the home movie as well as the "nat" sound from the plays he was in were all competing with his narration. Thinking hearing from another person, play director, another actor or even a parent would have added more depth to this story.

Judge 2

Positives: This is very well edited and the use of still imagery is well done. The story structure is strong. Sound is consistent and levels are consistent.

Improvements: The talking head interview is not well lit. So much dialogue spoken so quickly. Give your audience a break from the dialogue.

Judge 3

Positives: Great use of stock footage and photos. Great interview location in the theatre.

Improvements: The first half seemed like a resume, these sequences could have been interspersed with his story, building up to the ending rather than the first half being his resume and the last half his story.
