  • 4/25 2:27 pm - Gorgeous opening, solid camera movements. Controlled, lyrical shooting. Very impressive. Solid musical track underneath. Great eye!
  • 4/24 12:40 pm - Not a lot to critique for this work. Incredibly strong shooting skill on display in this piece and a real joy to watch. Exposure, movement, and focus are spot on throughout. Compositions are strong, creating compelling frames that visually convey messaging. Closeup work is strong, especially with lighting control. Large variety is evident that you shoot a lot and have practiced your skill quite a bit. My only suggestion with your sample reel is to avoid cheesy effects shots like the glowing eyes (1:01) and watch which areas you illuminate with your edge and gelled lights in low key scenarios (1:30) in order to avoid muddy contrast levels.
  • 4/23 9:22 am - Excellent use of light, in a variety of ways and settings, great editing to bring different paces and looks together

Positives: You have a great eye for composition both static and moving. Shots are beautifully framed and camerawork seems enhance storytelling in every shot. Great use of color. You show a wide range of lighting and different color grades all which look good and enhance the images well.

Improvements: Just a few shots have slight overexposure on highlights (1:09, 1:44) Would like to see a bit more regular motion footage. You do a lot of slow-motion throughout, which will always looks beautiful but doesn't always show the full range of skill. Very small gripe though for an overall great reel

Positives: Some of your documentary footage is stunning. Beautiful use of the camera capture these moments. I also love how you use the light to peak and flare behind your subjects. Great work using sunsets as well. Golden hour is a great time to shoot and you do a fantastic job of capturing its beauty.

Improvements: I would like to see more work with controlled lighting. Most if not all of this piece is natural lighting. You use it while, however a cinematographer has to be able to build a scene with lighting and that is not highlighted in this reel. Camera movement to enhance meaning/tone is lacking in this as well.

Positives: Excellent composition, color and exposure. You also have some very nice camera moves. I really like how you ended the video. Overall very nicely done.

Improvements: One thing that I think could improve is finding a way to tie the clips together.
