  • 3/5 2:51 pm - Positives: Good variety of shots on a set with interesting lighting. Some nice tight shots to feature solos, and 2-shots that featured the lead vocal plus one other band member. Nice angle with some pan at 1:43. Professional look in a very small space. Areas for improvement: Try to anticipate the end of the song with a broad shot, rather than just a tight shot of the drummer wrapping it up.
  • 3/3 8:56 pm - Nice job getting a wide variety of shots in a small set with a pretty static group! Good job capturing some of the action (solos, etc.). Great looking colors and good job with the audio!

Positives: Good Job! Love that you made sure to get close-ups of the guitar playing Shot at 1:43 - I liked that you went off the shoulder and had some fun with the shot - it definitely worked with this video!!

Improvements: I noticed around 1:22 you held one shot for over 10 seconds - be sure to switch it up!

Positives: Good camera work. Well balanced audio. Director did a nice job for live production.

Improvements: Some lighting issues. Some cuts were off a bit.

Positives: Rock shoots are always tough because of unpredictable lead singers. In this case, the lead likes to put his head down. So, your best bet is to shoot him when he is forced to look up at the mic and in-between, take shots of the other guitarist, bassist and drummer who usually keep their heads up. Guitarists usually love to look at what they’re playing. LOL! The camera angles were a bit stale. Try putting a camera behind the speaker and pointing it up at the drummer (for an upshot) or fastening it to the upper wall (out of other camera shots) and zooming it closer to the drums so the viewer can see him in action. Suggestion: Take a camera out sometime and play with alternative shots. See what you get when you point a camera at a mirror, a window, or the shiny hitch of a pick-up truck. It may give you some ideas. The shot of the guitar at 1:08 was great! I liked the motion camera at 1:48. It made me feel like I was right there and even though it was not a smooth movement, it gave me the old-time home-video feel. Nice!
