  • 4/24 1:04 am - *Strengths: 1. Video quality 2. Variety of shots and perspectives. You provide the viewer with a steady diet of colorful /creative shots. 3. Audio (satisfactory balance between primary and secondary audio tracks). *Concerns: 1. This is a complicated process, and I am wondering for whom this piece is intended. Would viewers with limited knowledge of stage lighting get lost in the process? 2. The steps in your process identify what needs to be done and the order in which they need to be completed. You can strengthen your demonstration by providing more information regarding the techniques needed to complete various steps in the procedure. The maximum length for pieces in this category is three minutes. You may have wanted to use the time available to you to clarify aspects of this procedure. 3. Your narration also can include relevant and interesting background information related to your topic. The process alone likely will not be enough to keep the audience engaged.
  • 4/2 11:41 am - Great composition on shots. Great changes in the angles. Interesting to watch. Great instructional video for people who know the equipment. Great use of graphics. Would like to see the person speaking at least once. Music was a good choice. Voice over clear and concise.
  • 3/4 1:20 pm - Why does the mouse appear and move across the screen when you are talking about a pencil? It seems like there might be more intricacies to this than you show us, and it goes by pretty quickly, seemingly assuming the audience is pretty familiar with the basics of the topic. Nice variety of visuals. The audio is clear, and the music appropriate for the topic.

Positives: Camera shots are well selected and executed. Good narrative voice.

Improvements: This could have been a bit longer piece to really understand what you are trying to demo. Some shots don't match script.

Positives: Many how-to videos are painfully long and don't clearly illustrate the lessons they are trying to teach. You did an excellent job in communicating. It was clear, concise and complete. There were some very dynamic shots. The movement and camera angle at 20 seconds was interesting and made me want to want the rest of the video. I also appreciate the stop motion pencil and mouse.

Improvements: I have to really dig to find something in this area. The second shot of your piece with the multicolored lights was very grainy. That gave it a different overall quality from most of the rest of the video. Try to get clean and grain free colors that fall in line with some of the other shots that contain the rich colors of the light board.

Positives: I myself actually just took a Lighting Design course to better familiarize myself, so watching this video seemed like a very fun nod! That being said, you walked through the process extremely well and thoroughly. 1. Sometimes recording off of a screen can be tough, but you captured the software really well, and your audio was really clear. 2. Very steady, well filmed shots. It wasn't like you were jitter-y and just holding a camera up to a computer screen.

Improvements: These are both incredibly small comments, so take them with a grain of salt, 1. Lots of shots of the software (Given, that is what the video is about), although it would have been nice to see some more footage of the lights in action! 2. I really liked your "mood lighting" in a lot of this, especially when you were showing the key commands, however a few shots were pretty shadow heavy. Cool looking, but may be tough to make out some of the keyboard commands (which took me the longest to figure out when I took Lighting Design). As I said, though, SMALL things. Overall, a very nice job!!
