  • 4/15 9:51 pm - I like the idea of this as a feature documentary and the trailer had some good moments. The broll was compelling and largely shot well, save for a few issues with focus. Usually, persons being interviewed on camera shouldn't look directly into the lens, but I actually liked it in this particular instance. The main issue here is I only heard about marching band from one person's point of view. Ideally, in a trailer such as this, you should hear from at least 4 -6 people. It would have been so much more compelling hearing different voices tell this story. From an editing standpoint, make sure your titles are within title safe boundaries on your screen. Look this up if you don't know what I'm talking about. Work on your audio and mixing of audio. Your voice over needed to be louder and your music needed to be softer. Ideally, you would use an additional microphone source as opposed to on-camera microphones. It would have given your voice over more power.
  • 3/25 11:21 am - Neat idea to have a trailer for a documentary. You did a nice job of mixing the audio- the transitions of lowering the music to allow the voice to be heard were well done. (until the end when it pops on) Interesting B-roll with lots of action going on- but she talks about family and could have used more personal shots instead of all marching shots. The music was interesting, but why didn't we hear marching band music? Could have really helped tell the story to use actual sound bite from the band. Speaking girl sounded a bit rehearsed. Could you add others to the mix? There's hundreds in the band but only one speaks? Nice use of pictures in the end title.
  • 3/4 10:33 am - Interesting idea for a trailer. Film your interview somewhere interesting and or get the lighting/white balance to look better/dramatic if you are filming in a controlled environment in front of a black background. The shot at 22 seconds is great with the mascot tarp flying overhead. The shots outside work well. I am sure the marching band greatly appreciated the trailer. Boost the audio at the end. It might have been a good idea to record the speech at the end and used that as the narration for the video.
  • 2/26 1:21 pm - This is clearly a trailer for a documentary. What would have made the story more relatable is seeing more than just the main girl on camera. More people, more voices, from the marching band. The end scene where the girl is reading her speech is very emotional, but 3-4 more people or voices spread throughout the video would have been great.
