CPTV is Crown Point High Schoo's video news program. Some segments have been removed and content has been edited in order to bring program down to 10 minutes.
Positives: Nice effects on the open montage. I liked the video OTS Graphics are well done. Good work with monitor graphics for sports.
Improvements: Did not like the dissolve from 2 shot to OTS and wide shot to sports anchor at monitor. Could use more nat sound in B roll
Positives: - This news team does a solid job of picking powerful soundbites. I really liked how they pieced together their stories using sound that provides more perspective. - Visually, CTV does a great job utilizing its set and presenting itself like a solid newscast. I like the transitions, and I really like the moving shot to set up sports. This team also does a really good job of framing its interviews.
Improvements: - It's always the toughest thing to master at a young age, but flow on the packages could be improved. The school security story, for example, could use some nats sound of doors opening, students walking in the halls, etc. - Feel free to get creative with your reporter stand ups too. Try to do something active and show your message rather than just telling it straight into the camera. Also, try to vary your shot composition more. Close up shots are great (and they can be used as cutaways).
Positives: I liked the opening with teases of what was coming up. Effective writing and video set up the beginning of the show nicely. Nice job with sports getting to several different events and providing highlights and interviews.
Improvements: Some editing in the packages could be better. There were a few random shots that didn't really have a purpose. Make sure video covering soundbites and tracks enhances what's being said. Some of the interviews could have used better lighting and framing, For example, Robert McDermott and a student in the library.
