  • 4/23 9:21 am - Great use of light in a variety of difficult settings, great range of composition and perspectives. From the silhouettes to black and white you showcased a great mix of looks and feels that represents a wide range of projects. Great music choice that helps accent instead of compete with the footage you selected.

Positives: Many of your compositions, especially the black and white ones were very striking. They were well shot and well lit with with attention to detail. Shot choiced overall showed off a variety of shot sizes, movement, and styles.

Improvements: Some of your shots could benefit from more lighting. At times, subjects are a bit dark or in the case of the wedding shot, overblown. Your black and white shot of the static picture is unnecessary in a cinematography reel. It doesn't really show YOUR work in any meaningful or artistic way. In general you could benefit from including some more shots with camera movement to show further versatility

Positives: I really enjoyed your black-and-white work. It's clean and exposed properly. The use of a stabilizer, when one is used, is done wow. Seems like you have an understanding of how to use that tool.

Improvements: Some of your footage is quite noisy. This could be due to your ISO set too high on your camera. Make sure you understand your camera's ability and its strengths and weaknesses. Some cameras can go high in the iso without getting noisy others cannot. When the image does get noisy you need to pump in light to keep the noise away. Some of your tracking shots are great but there are many shots that could use the help of a tripod or some sort of stabilizer.

Positives: You had some nice camera movements and I really liked the way you played with the colors in the video.

Improvements: A couple of shots seemed a bit out of focus and I wouldn't use any soft shots in a reel. You had some nicely composed shots and you played with color but I would suggest you work on depth of field - racking in and out of shots.
