- 4/3 1:46 pm - Audio levels inconsistent. The set looked great. Interesting way to frame talent. Great use of b-roll. Great that you used school footage that was recorded well. Really liked the background music as it added to the flow of the information. Would have been good to hear from other talent more often. I really liked the added interviews and the shot composition was appealing. Great that you added the graphics so we knew who the students speaking were during the interviews. More light on the talents faces would have been good. The person who is primarily speaking could have been framed better. Wide shot of room ok for establishing shot otherwise it didn't work. Audio levels too high (distorted) during Evanston footage. Great look and flow to conversation.
- 3/2 6:40 pm - IF I was listening to this on the radio, and on the radio only, I'd be very impressed. Talent was knowledgeable, had good speaking voices and worked with each other well knowing when to talk and when to listen. Sounded like they knew the history of the team and players which is nice. Visually, the show was dark. It was nice at the start for visual effect, but once the show got started, you needed lights. The establishing shot made it hard to see anyone at all. Interviews with players and b-roll looked really good. Audio was really hot to start the show- it got better, but really hot at first. For a radio show like this, I'd lose the background music. It just didn't fit and got really distracting. The show reminded me of a "Mike and Mike" or something similar, and no music in the background is needed. You talked about the big rivalry game, and then it went TO the game? Did not understand how the game got finished already right after you spoke about it? The "highlights" were long- ok to use the announcers voice for some of the highlights, but got to be too much. There was no real ending to the actual show- needed to come back to the radio station to close things up. Keep going boys- you sound good!
- 2/28 12:17 pm - Wow, this opened up with such promise. Cool lighting, cool music, nice float down from the logo to the studio...and then at 10 seconds you ruined my morning. "GOOOOOD MORNING" was over modulated. That means distorted. You have great microphones and you're wearing headphones, but whoever recorded your audio clearly doesn't know what a VU meter is, or how to set levels BEFORE you start a show.
The VU meter does not lie; use the following guidelines and you'll never fail again:
Dialogue levels should be between -6 and -12 db, sound effects between -12 and -18 db, and music beds should be around -24 db. Watch your overall mix; sometimes your music beds were competing with your people talking.
Other than the audio issues, you had a very cool look for your show. I liked the blue studio lighting look, although honestly you need to add MORE light. Some of the cutaway shots were a bit dark and had soft focus.
The roll-ins and b-roll were effective and helped make this more than just a video podcast of a radio show. You might consider adding in custom wipes or transition graphics to cue your audience when you're rolling in segments. A custom graphic adds more production value and motion graphics aren't too hard to create.
Some of your analysis felt rehearsed and stilted, like a few of the guys in the studio weren't regulars on the show or maybe didn't feel 100% knowledgeable talking about some of the content.

Positives: - Great job on all the b-roll, both game footage and in practice. Pairing that with the radio hosts and narration made for a compelling story.
- LOVE the halftime speech from the coach during the ETHS game. Getting that kind of access and being able to use it effectively really sets this piece apart.
Improvements: - Work on the editing - sometimes less can be more in storytelling. Some of the narration from the radio hosts could probably be shortened without affecting the overall story. Towards the very end of the piece there's a jump from inside a huddle during a timeout straight to the end of the game, which would be more effective by showing some game action in-between. Logically, the viewer knows that's a jump that didn't actually happen that way.
- This is nit picky, but the score graphics during the game segment came and went too quickly to be effectively read at times. Again, super picky, but detail matters in your final edit. Overall, I thought this was a great piece. Well done.

Positives: A lot of personality in this show! I liked how we are taken into the radio call room and getting out of the traditional stage of the host sitting behind a desk. Good attention to lighting and creating a look with blue gels. Multi cam in the radio call room was cool too. Nice job getting players to sit down for interviews in a controlled environment. This was very well produced and evidently very well thought out with a story in mind. All talent very well-spoken. They held an engaging conversation extemporaneously, which feels authentic. Excellent variety of shots in the game coverage as well--stabilized shots, use of some slow-motion, sound bites.
Improvements: A lot of things are exceptional in this show. Technically, there are a few moments where the audio sounds a bit hot--particularly the first time the host speaks in the intro and a few sound bites. It is not glaring, but could take a closer look.
As we leave the radio call room, the transition to the game is kind of abrupt and could benefit from a smoother transition--perhaps a graphic or montage intro rather than a dissolve. Or even an exterior shot of the arena with a title. The game coverage is so well-done, it would be cool to hear some sounds from coach and players on the bench and in the huddle.

Positives: Very solid documentary, the setup of the topic, the breakdown of the team, players and the history and finally the outcome of the game. The commentary was a good job of in-depth information of the players and sounded very fluid. Excellent story telling.
The use of the interviews and the game video really punctuated the story being told. Nice job of talking about the players history before high school and supported by photos and their thoughts.
Improvements: Not sure if there is a penalty, this documentary was 10 minutes and in the sports program information it states: Maximum Length 3 Minutes
Some of the production needs to be addressed, the opening audio was poor and the lighting in the studio and the individual interviews were too dark.
Would like to see some chyrons reintroducing the people talking when you do a rejoin or when the coach is talking. Never a problem to inform the viewer who is speaking.
