  • 4/26 7:10 am - Great opening attention getter Nice montage of shots Great quick interviews Throw broll between the first two interviews give your audience a chance to digest what the first person had to say Love Trish’s interview starting in broll but supporting the interview before Ends with some kind of call to action, good
  • 4/26 12:25 am - 1. What a wonderful collection of meaningful and well composed shots! You provide the viewer with a steady diet of colorful shots depicting different aspects of the production. Well Done! 2. Your use of nat sound gives viewers a more intimate sense of this production. You allow us to hear everything from a sewing machine to crew members working on a set. Of course we also get to hear some numbers from the musical! 3. Continue to work on giving your pieces a more unified focus and structure. In your description, you indicate this package "goes behind the scenes" of your school's production of "Newsies." This prompted me to expect your piece would examine what takes place to make a large production like this possible. While this piece does take us behind the scenes, it also strays into other areas. For example, one individual talks about what the play is about and another explains why it is relevant to younger generations. 4. In a few instances the primary and secondary audio tracks compete.
  • 4/23 9:03 pm - Prefect start to this video. I like the natural sound of the teacher. Perfect pacing for the first :17 seconds with the music. The framing of your interview is well done and the variety of shots is solid the entire video. The only thing I would say is that your could mic the director when she is counting the out. I like how you take the viewer behind the scenes and give them some of the important back story. Great job on this story.
  • 4/9 1:08 pm - Fantastic job! You made great use of natural audio throughout the video and had seamless audio transitions that take place behind the video. The on-location interviews carry the package and the b-roll was used at a consistent pace. I thought it was a very smart move to use one of the show songs being sung during practice at the beginning of the video. Keep up the good work!
  • 3/10 11:29 am - I WISH IT WOULD HAVE LASTED TWO MORE MINUTES. GREAT JOB WITH EVERYTHING. THANKS FOR PROVIDING GREAT SAMPLE FOR MY STUDENTS.

Positives: Perfect topic for a nats pkg. So easy to get a lot of great sound and interviews. Good job mixing up the interviews with several cast members and a teacher Lots of great video, shot really well, interviews framed great I loved the opening sequence of nats with the quick change of shots. This showed great editing, a progression of the show and helped deliver your message of what it took to put on this type of show

Improvements: :53-1:02 the nats were so low. You had great momentum and then it felt like we hit the breaks. Either do a shorter nat pop there or find something else to fill the time The only other improvement I can give is maybe add a graphic at the end with showtimes and dates. Watching this piece made me want to go see the show, but I wouldn't know where or where.

Positives: - The transitions in this are phenonmenal. The tight shots just as going through a clothing rack or sewing - and the natural sound all pull the viewer in. - The soundbites were chosen very carefully and it paid off. This package is oozing with passion and you can feel it from every single student they interviewed. Like how broll was overlayed on parts of the interviews - but you could still hear natural sound

Improvements: - Try to find different variations of shots while interviewing people It's great to do close up but change it up every now and again throughout the duration of the interview so you have more angles to choose from - Little long! But it didn't bother me

Positives: Great use of natural sound to develop the theme right in the first few seconds. Lots of unique shots showing the process leading up to the big show.

Improvements: Don't be afraid to lay over video once the viewer knows the voice/ face of the person talking. Instead of ending on the Newsies graphic, show a wide shot of the stage with cast members on stage to get that final feeling of the production coming together.
