4/15 9:15 pm - The background means this trailer cannot be considered for a place at the podium. But aside from that, I commend you for taking a stab at a very complex story. The exposition was explained well and the shots had a consistent style and treatment. The main issue from a story standpoint is that I don't know or learn enough about your protagonist. I don't even see her face until halfway through the trailer. Most of the time you're not going to hook your audience without effectively introducing your characters and conflict. The pacing of the trailer could have been quickened to demonstrate rising action. The other issue was audio. Voice over and dialogue was hard to hear in many spots and that's a problem with such a complex story.
3/25 11:48 am - Good concept for a movie. There appears to be almost more black in this trailer than actual shots. And definitely more shots NOT shot by the student than shot by the student. Those copywritten shots need to be credited (or not used at all, as this category does not allow video not shot by the student). Good color matching on some of the shots that used green screen, but the majority of the green screen shots just looked to unreal, almost to the point of being cheesy. The tracking of background and green screen did not match, and the background shots moved too much while the actor did not.
3/4 10:15 am - Entertaining but I am not sure what is going on and I am confused. Some cool shots, for example the hour glass. Kind of reminded me of the Twilight Zone meets divergent. Are all the shots filmed by students? For example the dessert, the earth etc
2/26 1:01 pm - Storyline isn't very clear; why should audience connect with the character or engage in the film? Also...how much of that footage was original and created by students? I kind of feel that some of it was ripped from other sources, which isn't allowed in this category. Definition: Plagiarism is the "wrongful appropriation" and "stealing and publication" of another author's "language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions" and the representation of them as one's own original work.
Also, audio levels aren't mixed appropriately. Make sure you're watching the VU meter when you're recording AND editing. Dialogue levels should be between -6 and -12 db, sound effects between -12 and -18 db, and music beds should be around -24 db.
