  • 4/22 11:44 am - *Strengths: 1. Appropriate shot variety with effective use of close-ups. 2. Video quality 3. Lighting 4. Narration used to identify process/steps *Areas on which to work: 1. The steps in your process identify what needs to be done and the order in which they need to be completed. You can strengthen your demonstration by providing more information regarding the techniques needed to complete various steps in the procedure. 2. Your narration also can include relevant and interesting background information related to your topic. The process alone likely will not be enough to keep the audience engaged. 3. Continue to look for creative ways to begin and end your pieces. 4. Look for opportunities to make your audio track richer by incorporating some nat sound.
  • 3/6 9:52 am - Nice use of movement in well composed shots. Easy to understand instructions supplemented by the graphics. Voice over edit done well. Nice transitions and use of sped up footage. Nice changes of angles to keep it interesting. Music helped as well. Good audio levels. Would have liked to see who was speaking. Great food choice.
  • 3/3 9:21 pm - Really good job capturing all of the steps in a clear manner. The lighting is great, as are the shot faming, camera movement, and audio. The food looks really appetizing!

Positives: Narrator did a very nice job. Good camera work and lighting.

Improvements: Some action hard to follow, especially where in the script time passes.

Judge 2

Positives: There are a number of well composed shots. The opening dolly shot is an example. The closeups are great, :48, :52, :57, 1:01. You bring your audience into the process of making the dough in that sequence. - Very effective

Improvements: Watch for small details. Make sure the counter tops are clean. There are white specks on the counter next to the bowl at :21. These occur in several shots. Also, clean the oil that is on the surface of the mini cupcake pan after you spray it. At 1:41 the old has darkened and draws attention away from the s'mores. Little details like that will make you product look much more appealing.

Positives: Really nice job!!! Your editing is super tight and you have a great shot variety going for it. It looks like you were using all natural lighting for this, too, which worked really well in your favor. I'm assuming you filmed this on a kitchen table or counter right near a window.

Improvements: The video was really well done, so these comments are EXTREMELY small. slightly hot when you were talking through the instructions. Easy fix, though, just take a step back further away from the microphone. And in using the natural light, maybe just throw in a second light somewhere to counter-balance some of the shadows you have going on the table. Small things, though, those are both incredibly easy fixes! Well done!
