  • 4/23 10:51 am - *Strengths: 1. Camera placement in oven - clever! Let's see more of these - give the viewer perspectives they do not customarily see. 2. Clear and enthusiastic narration. 3. Appropriate music *Areas on which to work: 1. The steps in your process identify what needs to be done and the order in which they need to be completed. You can strengthen your demonstration by providing more information regarding the techniques needed to complete various steps in the procedure. 2. Your narration also can include relevant and interesting background information related to your topic. The process alone likely will not be enough to keep the audience engaged. 3. Continue to look for creative ways to begin and end your pieces. 4. Look for opportunities to make your audio track richer by incorporating some nat sound. 5. Watch your focus. On some occasions your camera's focus reacted slowly or focused on the wrong object (for example, meat being removed from pan and placed on cutting board)
  • 3/12 3:21 pm - Nice voice over. Nice shots of ingredients. Camera angles didn't change enough to not be jump cuts at some points. Good lighting. Nice in the oven shot. Instructions were clear but some times the video didn't match the narration well.
  • 3/4 6:22 am - Shots are clear and nicely framed and paced. Steps go by pretty quickly—some could take more time or more demonstration or explanation (about boiling and thickening the sauce, for instance). Music fits the tone nicely. Some of the shots are not very appealing in terms of how they make the food look (a bit sloppy).

Positives: Good camera work. Well written script.

Improvements: Some shots hard to follow for viewer. Editing a bit choppy. Music too loud.

Positives: Good job on creating an easy to follow tutorial on how to make sirloin steak au poivre. It was easy to follow and it seems like all of the steps are included. There are some really nice shots. The inside oven shot is great at 1:35. The food looks rich, full of color and appetizing. Another appealing shot occurs at 0:09.

Improvements: When doing a tutorial like this it is important to work very clean. When you were describing the ingredients it would have been more effective to use new, unopened packages and a more decorative way of showing the garlic and shallot. At 1:15 remove the crumpled napkin. It takes away from and otherwise very effective shot. I have a similar comment at 2:08. Clean the crumbs off the counter as well as the platter. This may seem like overly critical, but image makes a huge difference when dealing with food. The final 3 food shots all look great.

Positives: Really well done video!! Your editing is very top notch and tight, I like the quick cuts at the very beginning of all of the different ingredients and items showing up. You always have really good lighting...sometimes filming in a kitchen/indoors can be a nightmare for lighting, and overall this video is very visually appealing.

Improvements: The whole video was really well presented, so I don't have much in the way of comments...a few shots were shakey/had a lot of camera movement, maybe just try to cut down on that a little bit, but other than that, really well done video!
