• 4/23 6:56 am - A little bit of pad is needed at the beginning of the story. What’s a different way you can lead in to the sound byte with the Merrillville Director of Security rather than saying “I spoke with…”. We know you spoke with them - you’re either going to give them credit for a quote or we’re going to hear them. Ending felt a little rushed - besides adding a SRO, what else is Crown Point going to do regarding safety? Good interviews with the Merrillville and Hammond folks - but tie that into your story - why did you interview them?

Positives: -Great thinking with the standup intro/ tag AND the inclusion of shots that show your process in telling the story. Walking with the interview subject was a great way to get b-roll for a story that can be tough to tell visually. -The story was really solidly told here. I loved the viewpoints from other schools, and making use of a phone recording when needed. -Good job matching b-roll to track. -Interview framing was well done here.

Improvements: -Shortening the soundbites would help quicken the pace of the story a little bit, which would have been beneficial for this story. -Hold those shots! Two back-to-back pan shots can be off-putting for a viewer. -The dark lighting in the hallway works because this story is about school security and it totally fit the tone. If the story were different, that shot would've been too dark.
