  • 4/25 7:59 pm - Really smooth job in the production component of this. Play-by-play and color commentary was ok. Wish announcers addressed more about the game as a whole and not just the current plays on the field. Shots decisions were well thought out. I liked how you showed what you needed to as opposed to just using a bunch of different angles for no reason. Well done!
  • 4/25 10:06 am - PxP and color step on each other a little bit with dialogue covering the action. Analyst should jump in as soon as the main action is complete and essentially answer the question "why did that happen?" PXP ducks out then resumes with the next play, etc. Some more prominent nat sound would help build some of the atmosphere for the viewer
  • 4/23 7:49 am - NEED MORE ANNOUNCER CHATTER TO FILL AUDIO AND AVOID LONG STRETCHES OF DEAD AIR, SINCE THIS ISN’T A PRO VENUE WITH 50K IN ATTENDANCE MAKING CONSTANT NOISE. 1:09 - THE BEAUTY OF THREE CAMERAS IS THREE DIFFERENT SIZES OF FRAMING, YET WE SAW HEAD-TO-TOE OF #18 ON TWO CAMERAS. GX APPEAR SO LOW THAT THEY MAY NOT “GO HOME” ON SOME SCREENS & DISPLAYS. HOW ABOUT SOME CROWD CUTAWAYS?
  • 3/5 10:01 am - Overall, good coverage of the game. Nice to hear a female voice on football coverage - not something you hear often at the high school level. Nice job by the director telling the story - camera shots helped to tell the story. Color commentary should help to paint the picture - what kind of background info on the team, a player, etc can be shared with the viewers?

Positives: The director did a nice job of doing what he/she could with the amount of cameras available. The game camera generally had the whole play in it at the snap, which is sometimes not easy to do in a high school press box.

Improvements: It felt like the play-by-play announcer was heavy in how much he was talking. I'd have liked to have heard more of the analyst. One tip for the play-by-play here: Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to stop a sentence. Try to find easy end points. That will help you gather your thoughts for when you start again. I'd like to have the score bug in more often and/or down and distance on the score bug, but that simply may not be possible.
