  • 3/9 9:53 pm - Nice opening. Good energy from anchors. Their reads at time were a little quick and "staged." Consider mic placement, in this case especially on left anchor. When the anchor turns to co-anchor, audio bounces. Maybe center that mic on the anchor a little more. Lav on right anchor is crunching the tie a bit. The left anchor's turn to the one shot for the lock story is edited a little tight and the anchor's movement is a little cut off. Some really nice B-roll on the lock story. Good audio, solid interviews. The anchor one shot from the end of lock story to late arrival story comes across a little flat. There are no OTSs or visuals and anchor is in a center shot on camera for about 30 seconds straight. Just an idea to quicken the pace with some visuals and having less "talking heads" from the anchors. I like your graphics. Clean, consistent. They all play into the "look" of your show. Nice use of the two box shot to transition to a 3rd anchor. Maybe consider pulling your monitor and anchor away from the curtains a little more and focus a light on the curtain to eliminate shadows. Vaping segment is another nice segment. All stories are relevant, interesting and informative to/for your audience. Another nice job on the legalization segment. Audio is a little hot on village president interview. Bowling segment has more good visuals. Would like to see more sports coverage with B-roll and an anchor to give game recaps and S.W.A.P. with the story. Show was obviously cut for time so not sure where show goes after this point. Maybe you do have more sports coverage that follows the bowling piece. I would also like to see more stand-up work in one or two of the segments. Not in all segments and not all in the same format. As a viewer, I feel there is a need to build a "relationship" and trust with the persons delivering the information. Having a visual of them in the locations of these stories help with that.
  • 3/8 7:25 pm - STORY: All packages were well produced. Writing was professional and creative SOUND: No issues CAMERA: The lock story b roll was amazing. Way to take a boring visual of locks and take it to the next level of creativity and natural sound LIGHTING: no issues TALENT: Professional and energetic. The banter and editorial comments made the show more interesting

Positives: Good use of nat sound in Locks package Vaping package well done

Improvements: Could use better interaction between anchors Nat sound in bowling package was too high

Positives: Really like the headlines at the top of the show. Good video and graphics of what is to come and why the viewer should watch. GREAT nat sound at the beginning of the first package. Good lighting on the interviewees as well. Way to get out in the community to cover stories outside of the campus.

Improvements: The tag of the first story and then the long story afterwards about new and late arrivals was read by the same anchor. Spilt it up. Also, the story about late arrivals felt long. Break it up by a graphic with the list of rules or maybe video of students walking into school before you play the SOT. Watch your audio. One of the interviews sounds hallow and the wrong mic was used. Be careful not to add too much opinion into your newscast. When the anchors are talking about the late arrivals, it sounds as if you're trying to persuade the viewers. Be careful about that.

Positives: nice job editing pkgs I think the school security pkg was a great lead - always go with something that impacts the most number of viewers

Improvements: In the school safety pkg I would've also done an interview with a student, not just school officials. When changing between the school safety package and the late arrival calendar it would've been helpful to switch anchor reads or take a different camera shot to help viewers establish you're talking about something new.
