  • 4/23 2:19 pm - Pros: I liked the beginning of the piece with the radio static leading into Gary's introduction. Nice sound design there. The story was set up well and the conflict was made clear after establishing our primary character in Gary. Some good comedic moments in there with intentional over-the-top acting by the rest of the cast. Improvements: The audio was inconsistent. It sounded so good in that initial piece, but then it was clear that only onboard audio was being used and it didn't sound as crisp. Several shots were not in consistent focus. The shot of the "Lizzo" girl in the hall needed some more light. In terms of story, I think it needed moments that show Gary trying to put things right or show him on his quest to solve his problem. That would have made for a more interesting piece. The title cards were well designed stylistically, but I'm not sure they were needed. With some dialogue tweaking they could have been made way simpler. "What happens when a man who has everything loses everything?" This single question could have been parsed out throughout the trailer as titles. Overall it was a fun piece!
  • 4/23 10:26 am - Pros - An interesting concept reminiscent of Gossip Girl, but with a TV/Film class twist, made for an attention-grabbing trailer. Cons - There sequence where Gary is found out is very hollow sounding and is not consistent with the rest of the sound quality of the trailer. There are several shots that are out of focus (fight in hallway) or that drift out of focus in crucial moments, like when Gary drops to his knees when he is found out. The performances were uneven. Gary and the guy that finds him out are ironic and over the top 'Californians'. The rest of the cast does not seem to have any real direction with their choices.
