  • 4/20 2:57 pm - Successful - Funny concept (but I think Portlandia did it first). Nice use of the mockumentary format to tell the story and deliver the jokes. Very funny. Good editing and pacing overall. Needs Work - The ending was a little disappointing, and it seemed to change the tone of the story slightly. Turning it into a criminal investigation parody in the end seemed odd.
  • 3/6 11:40 am - A very well done mockumentary that was funny both visually and with the writing. A very clever plot that unfolds itself at the end and all make sense without many plot holes. I would have still like to see a little bit more story of the winner told. Continue to work on controlling the lighting in places where there may be a lack of natural lighting.

Positives: Very funny and original...nicely shot and edited. The actors did a great job.

Improvements: There was a little bit of shaky camera and questionable shots, but it is hard to shoot this kind of action. It didn't really detract from the story.

Positives: The characters are great; they're charmingly imperfect and hilarious! The concept is clever - there's a lot of potential to take this story and make it quite funny and you all did it justice. Some very clever dialogue here- a lot of moments where I genuinely laughed out loud.

Improvements: Camera work could've been more deliberate, clever. Think: funnier, sillier camera angles. Music isn't necessary, but would have added a nice layer to the piece.

Positives: Above all, this film delivered on the comedy, and I think that is the most important metric in this category. A great, consistent series of effective jokes and gags throughout. I really appreciated the writing at work here, and the delivery lived up to that tremendous quality of writing. This film had the most actual comedy of any film I judged, and all of the jokes and gags landed for me. Great comedic editing that also served the writing and acting very well. Timing was on point. Sometimes reminiscent of the Office, Parks & Rec, etc. with the testimonial cutaways. You were able to pull this off very convincingly. Great Jimmy gag in the beginning that made me laugh out loud. All the characters were unique and pretty clearly defined. They accomplished a lot with that in a short amount of time. I loved Brian's scolding in the beginning. I loved John Hider's egotism. Caitlin's (sorry about spelling?) ambition was very effectively conveyed in a funny way. Chad's ambivalence was surely the centerpiece, but everyone got a chance to shine! I loved how it wrapped up in a surprising turn of events. This film stood out in that regard as well. I chuckled throughout but I heartily laughed out loud at the extremity of Chad's fate (expulsion and 13 years in federal prison). Keep making funny movies! You are great at it!

Improvements: I honestly can't think of too much that could've been improved upon. This one was a delight from beginning to end. I suppose you could have had some flashy graphics mixed in to reinforce the visual appeal. Also, I think this film could've benefited from some more music incorporated into key parts. It was there at the end, and that worked really well. But yeah, this was GREAT! Excellent work!
