  • 4/23 1:41 pm - Lipton Fruitea - strong shooting, solid concept
Judge 1

Positives: Quite funny! The turn was definitely unexpected and entertaining. Great track (though you need to be sure that there's a real concept and business need behind it - the track should never be the idea itself.)

Improvements: I would love to see this spot with people in it, or maybe introduce the outdoors when we switch to fruit tea. The cup smashing would be improved by framing it tighter. The styling and lighting could be improved. At the moment of transition you probably don't want to show tea bags - it might have been better to show the colorful fruit tea vigorously splashing over ice.

Positives: Immediately know it is a tea commercial which is important in branding Love the use of the music to go from old to new and the use of breaking the cup. Great support for your end tagline.

Improvements: The dissolves are a bit distracting at the beginning. You could tighten it up or shoot it a little different to eliminate/minimize the transitions When you switch to the teas, I would use graphics to share why this tea is different.

Positives: Story: Wow this was a fun narrative. You got in and out making your point quickly and completely. Camera - Excellent use of shots to tell the story. The classic tea time worked just as well as the hip new tea. Lighting: Your bright airy lighting added to a classic feel, and the reflections on your glass tea glasses complemented the vibe, well done!

Improvements: Sound: The music was a touch to loud, and when the music transitions I at first thought a telephone was ringing which was a tad confusing, just a couple of sound efx, or moments of foley could have added to your mix a lot. What does a hammer crashing into china sound like? Probably not good in real life, but there is a way to make it sound as cool as the new product.
