  • 3/6 7:24 am - Wow, really impressive command of a very complex performance and equipment setup! Great job getting a variety of shots. It’s always hard to deal with lighting in a live situation. There are only a few shots here that are darker, but the rest of it looks beautiful and balanced! The new shot of the young woman at about :42 is disorienting. I thought it was an edit to a different part of the song. Maybe try to establish earlier that she is present in the scene so that the jump to her is not so out-of-the-blue (of course, I understand that might have been hard to do logistically).
  • 3/2 11:35 am - Audio is great. Cameras look good. Directing is spot on. Good communication between director and camera crew.
  • 3/2 11:34 am - Great selection of camera angles to choose from (low angle, backstage, etc.)
  • 3/2 11:33 am - Great job following the cues of the soloists. The cameras come on exactly as the soloist begins his/her performance. It's almost as if you edited different camera angles at the correct time in post-production. You must have really done your homework during rehearsals and scripting. Nice job.
Judge 1

Positives: Nice audio work. Good camera composition. Well cut.

Improvements: Some shots could have been closer to help audience focus on specific talent.

Judge 2

Positives: It was clear the director knew the performance well as camera choices were well picked, especially at the beginning. Cuts went well with the music and believe me that makes a big difference.

Improvements: Spend a little more time making sure all cameras match before the show. When you switch from one camera to another and the color or brightness doesn't match it is distracting. The shots from the back of the stage don't go well with the other shots.

Judge 3

Positives: Lots going on in this number. I could tell much consideration went into the preparation to get the right action. Lots of action caught in mid-shots and wide shots were just wide enough, no dead space.

Improvements: Needed more close-up, especially on the first signer since he was standing still. Camera work and directing were proficient but lacked the risk taking to make the production really standout.
