This is a short, vintage commercial showing the differences between the New York Times in the past and now.

Positives: The phone works well as a device to show the different time periods. Camera work is good as is lighting.
Improvements: This spot is lacking story. There is so much more territory to address with journalism, which is key to a functioning democracy. Virtually every newspaper is online, so there's no unique benefit to NYT over any other publication in the world. This concept may have worked okay right when newspapers went online, but that was a long time ago now. Using a portion of a client's logo in a tagline will be a big no-no. Brands have official brand standards that dictate exactly how and where you can use a logo, which would prohibit this technique.
Positives: Loved the visual use of black and white and color...great way to visually demonstrate time change! Clever way to show the change of how people use the NYT Beginning shot clearly visually showcases the commercial is about the newspaper -- liked using the masthead for branding!
Improvements: some of the shots are a little blown out lighting wise I liked how you had the music change when the ages changed. The edit could be smoothed out just a touch here to make it a little more seamless.
Positives: Story: The comercial has a solid idea and a pretty clear meaning. Camera: You worked in a lot of good shots in that tight space. I thought the new angles the second time around where a good choice. I think you may have been dealing with some shy actors. I would have liked to see their faces showing that they NYT is just as enjoyable now as it was then, but the camera angles tell a good story as they are.
Improvements: Sound: I appreciate the mix of live sound and sound efx in the beginning, try mixing down the modern music and some clicking of the laptop keys or foot steps to would provide a better balance. Lighting: Your Then shots are over exposed, if you went down a stop or two you'd have a better contrast. I don't mind the over exposed modern lighting it feels trendy.
Positives:
