  • 3/6 8:35 am - This is SO well-filmed! The lighting is excellent! I like how you begin with an overhead shot of the boy walking down his alley and then bring it in from behind and then we see him from the front. Then we see him look at a picture of someone and then realize we are reflecting on a friendship and his friend has passed on. I love the lighting of the main character as he walks down the street with his friend and then into town wth the sun setting and we see the street lights! Fantastic! I love how you go back and forth between the memories and then of the main character walking alone to the cemetery to visit his friend. I watched this a couple of times because it was so well done! Congratulations on a job well done!

Positives: There is some effective lighting and framing. See 2:08. The ever moving camera keeps interest.

Improvements: The bass needs to sit more firmly in the mix. It's too present. The vocal levels need to be more consistent. The ends of phrases tend to be lower in volume and are buried by the other instruments.

Positives: Terrific cinematography. Some very dynamic camera movement. Nice performances.

Improvements: The song could have been edited down, to even 3 minutes. While the story was clear, the video felt too long, and at times, my attention wandered.

Positives: The shallow depth of field shots and the shots where you played with the speed were especially effective. Excellent camera work. Also, the colors were deep and saturated... matched the somber tone of the story and the song as well. Looked very professional.

Improvements: Story was fairly 1-dimensional. It's a story of loss and it's told rather effectively but the story doesn't really do anything to keep me engaged other than make me feel sad. I wish there was a more obvious reoccurring theme that I could latch onto and pay attention to as the video rolls out, Like... a basketball team that had to win the championship game without him. I did like the reveal of the cemetery at the end. And the graves were photoshopped really well. But this video looked too darn good for the story to be so thin. Mad potential here. Keep at it.
