4/23 7:43 pm - I like that you chose a unique topic to your community to highlight. I second the comments below and do not want to be redundant. Since you are shooting in HD, it is hard to make mistakes in this format. It is very forgiving and here is something for you to consider. Consider changing the focus of your piece by expanding the frame. The two shot is a bit stale and there is a lot going on so if you are asking the question, expand to fit the frame so you are guiding your viewer in what you want them to pay attention to. If you are an underclassman, keep making pieces. If you are a senior, I wish you the best in your future and congratulations!
3/16 8:22 pm - I thought your introduction was done well, location words, and setting up what the story was all about.
When you gave a little bit of history about the partnership with the community I didn’t feel like the stills you choose were really strong. I would look for images that really help the audience see the connections and will help the remember. I would have loved to see more interaction of the players / team with the community. For example, the Barbara Rose event looked like someone was invited to their court and the Roslyn Choir was just a sign on the jumbotron. I would have liked to see stronger B-roll to really drive home the partnership and like I said see the players and community together.
Also, while Brad was talking I would have loved again to see B-roll that really reflected what he was talking about. He was talking about pricing, family friendly experience, scream team, etc. and the B-Roll just kept showing more practice footage. Imagine how much better the story could have been if you went back to a game and gathered that footage /stills that would have driven the points home Matt was talking about.
The Max Strus interview while a nice part of the story had the feeling that it was thrown in at the end, the host should have provided some kind of transition between the experience and what they may see, rather than just jumping from one person to the next.
I think you had a nice topic, and you were not afraid to get in there and do a story with these people, just make sure you B-Roll keeps up with the rest of your story. The story like it was, was not bad, I just think with better B-roll your good story could have been great.
