  • 2/24 9:43 am - Nice package overall. The interview audio was nicely mixed, the nat sound from the performance clips were about as clear as one could hope for, considering the on-stage, live atmosphere. Your pacing for the edit was also really nice; I felt like you had just the right timing when cutting from one interview to the next, using the audio as a bridge, with the b-roll covering visually. Camera work was clean; appropriate use of headroom, good mix of close ups and medium shots.
  • 2/21 10:21 pm - Wanted all interviews shot in front of the background at 0:59. Need transition or b-roll cover from ref interview to ref b-roll. And jump-cut at 0:47. Need tight shots in b-roll. All we see are wide or medium. Flyers don’t work if you can’t read all the text on them in the limited time they are up. Frame portions of flyers that only have 4-6 words or just one graphic/symbol/logo. Some darker b-roll should have been pumped-up in NLE. Overall, all interviews & natsot were successful in storytelling.

Positives: Loved the sound in the beginning to set the tone of what this story is about. Very visual, and nat pop sounds helped the story flow.

Improvements: Would have been cool to see a throwback picture of video from Jake when he was on comedy sports in high school since he was talking about it. End on a wide shot of the group or multiple people and not just the instructor since the story is about the team as a whole.

Positives: -Your interviews were awesome! They were all really well framed, mixed up rule of thirds, and each were in different environments. You could tell you were a great interviewer and asked good questions, because you got good soundbites from each that really told the story and moved it along well. -Your lighting was also used well throughout. You could tell you maybe didn't have your own light, but really made use of what natural light you had to work with and made sure you adjusted your shots accordingly.

Improvements: Ways to take your pkg to the next level: -The editing could have been a little cleaner here. Your audio was a little jarring. It was a great you weaved it throughout, but make sure you're slowly bringing that nat sound level up and down so its comes in sounding more natural and not so sporadic. -You had great visuals and a really high shot count, but when you're filming think about getting a great mix of shots. including super tight shots. Would've loved to see close-ups of people's faces, or their feet running around, or the referee's hand hitting the bell. You had a few jump cuts and what appeared to be repetitive shots, and mixing up your angles will really help you while editing!

Positives: The nat sound in this piece worked well--it helped paint a fuller picture and carried the story from one point to the next. Additionally, I think the first interview bite was a good choice to open the piece with, as it gives viewers the necessary background info on Comedy Sports.

Improvements: The story of this piece could be improved. It feels more like a video explaining what Comedy Sports is rather than a news package with a story. Additionally, the interview shots could have benefitted from more dynamic backgrounds. The background with the set works well and is interesting, but the others could be improved.
