Glenbrook North
Music Video

Entry Description

In this music video I'm following the main character, Kyle, who just split up with his significant other, Courtney. Throughout the video he is seen writing the song that is being played while flashing back through memories of him and Courtney. Courtney thinks she has found happiness with another guy, but after a while finds herself missing Kyle. At the end it is revealed that the song Kyle has been writing, he has also been performing it for Courtney in an attempt to win her back.

I liked that we could see her new relationship wasn't really that good and I liked how you ended it in her driveway and the look on her face. Very dramatic! Shows true teenage feelings about love! Great job bringing that to a music video which is not easy to do!

Positives: The storytelling is consistent. The editing style is relatively consistent.

Improvements: The guitar playing at the beginning needs be more convincing. Th synchronization needs to be much tighter. A lot of the lyrics are out of sync.

Positives: Very committed performances. Loved the twist ending.

Improvements: Lighting could have been more controlled. Some shots could have been better stabilized.

Positives: Story was told effectively utilizing different timelines to its advantage. The pacing of the editing was also used very well to convey urgency nearing up to the end. Overall, the story was easy to understand and follow.

Improvements: One big tip to make your videos more professional looking... No logos on clothing! The words on everyones shirts were distracting. The cut scenes with the new boyfriend were effective but lacked any real depth. The story was a bit too one dimensional for me. I would have liked to have seen him try to date someone else unsuccessfully, or go further off the deep end depression wise or anything that would have spiced the story up a little bit. That being said, I like it a lot! Real potential here. Keep at it.
