2/24 11:03 am - The interview with Michael Moriarty didn't fit with the rest of your package style. The same is true with the coach interview.
All of the other soundbytes and interviews were on location, and then these 2 interviews just don't fit. Plus they aren't very well lit, and shooting an interview from a lower angle than eye level is generally not attractive to the subject. The b-roll from the rally and meet is pretty exciting, although some of the handheld camera work is shaky. A tripod or monopod would have been a big help.
The mix on your nat audio was hot at some points, to the point of overmodulation.
2/23 5:57 pm - Natsot too loud at top of cross fade to first
bite. I’m guessing the camera wasn’t a
shoulder-mount camera, which gives much
more stability to shots when not using tripod.
:48 - wow, this suit is unusual. Are there
more dressed like this? Maybe you could
have played this shot(s) higher in the story.
Framing of this shot could be better; wasted
space on sides. 1:04 - lots of shots of people walking/running AWAY from camera; any with folks coming TOWARD camera (besides runners themselves)? Bites from indoor locations interrupt flow of all that great outdoor b-roll.
1:31 - there’s that shot of
boys in suits. Would have been a great
opening shot. Lots of shaky b-roll - not just
because you’re shooting moving/running
people. I get that a tripod would have been
cumbersome to use. A MONOPOD would
have given great support when needed
while giving the ability to grab and go for
fast-evolving shots.
