• 4/22 11:39 pm - Pros - Although it is overdone at times, you showcased a strong ability to shoot shots that cut together well. Very strong piece overall, so if it is not mentioned in the cons, assume you are doing it well! Cons - lots of hyperlapses that draw attention away compositions because the move too erratically. Exposure variants were saved in color correction, but still cause detail reproductive issues. Dirty sensor spot was distracting. Use of mostly day exterior do not fully showcase the extent of the high skill you appear to possess.

Judge 1

Positives: You got a lot a great post production editing tricks here that really liven things up and grab your attention. Some very solid shot composition and camera movements throughout.

Improvements: I'd like to see more controlled lighting and interior lighting examples. Everything is exterior with natural light so there is no way for a prospective filmmaker to know you can handle controlling and manipulating light for more complicated production setups. After a while the editing becomes too distracting. This is a DP reel, be careful it doesn't become and editing reel.

Positives: 00:07 good establishing shot 00:15 good transition

Improvements: 1:00 these handheld shots mean nothing out of context. I feel you should be showing me something better. 1:20 if the boat is your point of focus, it should be larger in ther frame or centered I only see what you give me. Make sure your shots matter and have a point of focus. Your audience is comprised of future employers that not anly want to know that you can deliver technically, but that you have a personal flair or style that comes through. Keep shooting and exploring. Best wishes in all future endeavors.

Positives: Nice work. You have some very professional looking stuff here. I especially like the transition sequence after the dog barking. Well done. Really love the worms eye view shot between the buildings.

Improvements: There’s a time and place for graphics and special effects, I’d say at the beginning of your reel, is not one of those times or places. The opening graphic is kind of pixelated and feels off, and then it snap zooms into something great. I feel like it just throws the viewer for a loop, it’s confusing. Skip the beginning graphic and open with something beautiful that you really love Cross lense cut looks awesome as a transition and it’s one of my favorites, however, the more of these that I watch, the more that I see it being used, just don’t overdo it. Keep up the good work, your talent far exceeds what I was capable of when I was your age
