Day of the Dead is celebrated the last weekend in October. It is a very important holiday in Mexican culture used to honor loved ones who have passed on. Students celebrate this holiday in order to diversify the community and spread awareness of different cultures.

- 4/23 8:04 pm - I like that you chose a unique topic to your community to highlight. I second the comments below and do not want to be redundant. This was one of my favorite pieces. Watch your framing of your shots and subjects. There is a lot of headroom and since you are shooting in HD, you can expand your frame without losing quality. I would also advise on a lav/pin mic. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this piece. If you are an underclassman, keep making pieces. If you are a senior, I wish you the best in your future and congratulations!
- 3/16 8:24 pm - I appreciated how your story introduced the 3 areas you were going to cover and that we would learn how each group celebrates, I think otherwise I might have been confused. For the first group, I thought the key didn’t stand out, your font was to thin, so it was more work that what it should have been to read her name and title. I appreciated that you cut to the tables she was talking about, but I guess I wish the first shot would have been wider to see how many tables there were, and then cut to the close ups of each table. And those individual tables should have had a little movement to keep it looking fresh whether you were sliding left to right or zooming in or out the movement over a static shot would have been more interesting. You also spent more time on your speaker than you need to, nothing against her but you established your character, now show me what is on the tables while she is talking because she is not going to change at all. For the Spanish club I would have loved some more close ups of them painting the skulls you kept giving me these wide cover shots, so I didn’t know what I should be looking at, force me to see what you want me to see with close ups. When the teacher came on, I thought it was a good segment because the broll seemed to fit well which helped me remember the parts of that race and what was talked about. I thought your story was good, and covered a lot of ground, I would have loved some student/participant interviews, I think it would have added a little more flavor to the story. I thought you did a good job, just bring in a few more interviews and close ups and you will have some great stuff.
