A look at the opening of Highland Park's 50 year old time capsule. The opening of this time capsule helped give Highland Park's descendants and residents a glimpse of Highland park's past. The time capsule also helped kickoff Highland Park's sesquicentennial celebrations.

- 3/16 8:19 pm - You assembled a nice story, with all the necessary pieces to keep it interesting including a variety of interviews from different extras on the subject, and B-Roll which generally supported what was being talked about as the piece went on. The former mayor interview was a nice addition, but it wasn’t the most flattering shot of him, I would have established his character and cut to broll a little sooner. Make me want to see more of him, not less. Sorry I know that came across as rude but you have a duty to make him look as good as you can, The other reason I would have moved to B roll is he talked at such a slow pace (which is his privledge) but it started dragging your story down especially because the visual really wasn’t changing much (which again is maybe why I started picking on his appearance). B Roll is always your friend to keep your audience focused on a story (as long as it matches what is being said) but I don’t see that as a problem for you your b roll was great and diverse The piece seemed to end a little abruptly I would always try and give your audience a chance to digest the piece you deliver and when you speak to the last second of it, you know when it cuts back to the anchors in a newscast they will talk right away, so add a parting shot that gives your audience that moment to reflect on the story before someone else does it for them. Music fit well with story offering a little bit mystery and sense of wonder Your Interviews were well lit and each added purpose to the story, good job organizing all the pieces together. Now finally the part that was a stumbling block for me. You kept talking about the time capsule being locked up for 50 years, I kept hearing 1969. Yet, there are several artifacts that were dated 1971 that came out of it (At 1:41 Highland park news is dated 1971, and then again at 1:52. And the plaque says 1971 did you open this 18 months to early?). Now no one is going to call the police about this but the discrepancy of what was said and what was seen appeared enough times that I stopped listening to your story and why trying to figure out an explanation. It made your story lose a little less credible because the facts didn’t line up. A simple sentence addressing it would have shifted my focus back to your story, and not trying to resolve the discrepancy myself
