• 4/23 9:08 am - I like the message that you created in this piece and I thought you tied the theme of "opening the door" into your call to action well. This project definitely appeals to the audience's sense of pathos in that many of us keep these doors closed when we are feeling down. I think this is a message that many people can relate to. Some of the shots were a little shaky. I would also have liked to have seen some shots of this girl in a classroom as well. Her scenes seem to be focused on her social and extra curricular involvement.
• 3/7 3:50 pm - Well done story. Nice POV. I would have put some ambient audio from the b-roll a little under everything. Should have added some tears to the subject. At first I thought her boyfriend punched her and she has a black eye and also didn't get the chair until I thought about it a bit.

Judge 1

Positives: There were a variety of unique camera angles that supported the message and flow of the piece. The music and change in music really supported the message of the piece.

Improvements: There appears to be a disconnect between the message in the video and the call to action at the end with the graphics. It feels that the start of the video is geared towards one audience whereas the call to action at the end with the graphics has a message worded for a different audience. Similar messages but geared towards slightly different perspectives. Some of the shots at the start of the piece could have been cut back a little.

Positives: Music choices were good, and I think your writing and concept were strong. I liked your use of B&W to contrast the mood in the second act.

Improvements: More ambient SFX throughout might add dimension and drama, and make the sniffling toward the end less jarring. And maybe just a "hint" of sadness or uncertainty during the happy part could foreshadow what's to come.

Positives: The editing worked well. The shift to black and white worked well.

Improvements: If you can make it more cinematic, the better. If you can shoot in 24p, use a tripod and lights, that would enhance the piece and make it more professional.
