  • 4/23 10:31 pm - Pros - Very high quality work here; the image quality is good and the shot selection, especially when keeping the main character's face obstructed or facing away from the camera, adds to the intrigue and sinister nature his character creates through the storytelling of this very interesting piece. The music choice help pace the latter half of the trailer quite nicely and the introduction through the radio onscreen makes it feels very natural. Cons - Although the story was told very well and supported with high quality aesthetics, it seemed tired to me, with all the antihero-driven shows spawned from the success of Dexter. I struggled to find how this story set itself apart and why I would want to go see the full length film. But very high quality work overall.

Positives: Though this is definitely in the "tease" category and story is not readily apparent (likely intentional), it is beautifully shot with use of slow tracking movement, deep shadow / bright light, and clean sound design. Great job!

Improvements: Consider converting/conforming your footage to 24fps (though everything will then be in slight "slow motion") – as 60fps removes some of that cinematic aesthetic. Also consider changing up the font treatment to something sans-serif, clean, and minimalist to match the black and white, contrast-heavy aesthetic.

Positives: Very scary and awesome voice over

Improvements: Somethign with the lighting and different cameras make the video seemed like it was put together rather than a single edit.

Positives: I thought it was a great creative move to do what we call circle writing. Ending your sequence on the same shot that you stated it on- aka the guy sitting in the chair. Good movement to the music - made it eerie to say the least - good cut aways off the speaker playing music, close ups of the instruments. Using shadows to help tell the story. Creativity was great!

Improvements: This is almost Dexter like - so people have seen something similar. Try and figure out what you could "tease" the viewer with that makes this all the more different The question I have after watching is this is "how did this guy get like this?" so maybe showing little glimmers of that? People are just as interested in the pysche as they are in thrillers
