  • 4/23 12:23 pm - Great intro! The Highland Park Football Update was shot and edited very well. The anchor microphones need to be worn, not taped to the armrest! The audio quality takes away from the overall program. We also need to see some different camera angles because the two-shot becomes unnecessary when one anchor talks for an extended period of time. Switch to close-ups before going to graphics or b-roll. Come back to the two shot when topics change or when there is back and forth discussion. The anchors are knowledgable about the sports but the show needs more energy. Some background music or natural audio would go a long way. The show has a good concept but just needs some technical work to make it great.
  • 3/17 10:25 am - Cool opening. The "look" of the set was unique. But not sure what is going on- things are jumping all over the place. Need to have a true opening to the show to set the stage fo what is to come in the show. The coverage of the football game was good from footage to interviews. The two hosts of the show- audio was terrible. Sounds like you used the mics from the camera and no external mics to get closer, more professional audio. Especially in a talk show style like this, audio is of utmost importance. Anchors could be a little more rehearsed or scripted. Saw some jump cuts in what is supposed to be a Live broadcast. Camera shots could use some work. Need to have some close-ups on the hosts instead of the same wide shot for most of the talk. Hosts were knowledgeable about the topics. A decent show- just need to structure it more so it flows together and work on the technical side of the audio and camera.
  • 2/26 10:04 am - Nice job on the highlight montage in the beginning. Audio quality is poor in the beginning and during the internet broadcast segments. Jump cut from the hallway to the sideline. Lower thirds and b-roll look good. I like the attempt at creativity and doing something different. However this is kind of a weird mix of show, sideline reporting, game recap and internet broadcast that is not tied together very well.

Positives: I enjoyed the fact that you went out and shot interviews with your HS coach and players - great example of unique content that you're best suited to be able to provide. Good job with graphics and editing - production values overall were high.

Improvements: Watch your audio levels - some of the effects came in jarringly high relative to other sound. You don't want your viewers to have to be constantly changing the volume output on their speakers while watching your show. Be mindful of copyright rules surrounding video and make sure you have proper permission to use television highlights and other team-produced content in your show.

Positives: -The on camera talent - The anchor in the hawks t shirt has great energy and is very knowledgable of Chicago sports. Because of it, he was able to speak very well to each team and analyze with more than just words. -Side ticker Graphic - I think the idea of showing your topics on the side bar is always a great move. It brings production value up a few levels. ESPN's Pardon the Interruption influenced many programs to do the same, and this was done pretty well in this case.

Improvements: - Audio was hollow because the lavalier mics of the talent were taped to the arm of the chairs they were sitting in. Too far from the talent's mouths and because of it, the audio sounded like they were far away. Always run the mic either up the shirts or around the back. either that or use a shotgun mic on camera because you are in close proximity. - Studio set up - I like what they were going for with their set up, but I think there are a couple things that could have vastly improved their set up. Lower the 2-shot camera a bit, and bring the table with the sports paraphernalia on it closer to the talent. this way you can better see everything and see that it is a fun and character filled setup.

Positives: The production value of the opens and highlights was strong. Knoweldge of the sports hosts was great. And I like the deliverly, made me feel like it was just two buddies talking sports.

Improvements: The segements with the two hosts needed better audio. Very hollow sounding compared to some of the other segements and interviews. A little choppy with editing. For example, out of the open it seemed to start with Zucker already talking. It needed more of an introduction.
