  • 3/9 9:16 pm - Some really nice camera work throughout but a lot of similar shots in Broll of various packages. Legalization of marijuana segment had a lot of Broll of cars driving down the streets of Deerfield. Interviews are shot well. Good audio. Anchors read well but I would like it to seem less "read." There is a fine line between reading every word and using those words to effectively tell a story. For example, inflection, use of hands and facial gestures. The story topics are well chosen to fit and inform your audience.
  • 3/8 7:33 pm - STORY: Packages needed voice over and transition. The soundbites edited together was confusing and a bit of information overload. Camera: Studio Cameras were executed nicely. News package camera work could have had more variety and creativity Lighting: No issues Sound: No issues Talent: Well performed and professional
  • 2/24 1:01 pm - Pros: Good show open with variety. I like the first story and good job getting all the people necessary to tell this story. Interviews are well shot. Cons: The anchors 1-shots have the screen right behind them which can be districting. The OTS use the actual story, as it was edited. Used the Deerfield sign twice. The video in the She Kills Monster story seemed stagnent.

Positives: STUNTS package very well done Fall Play package well done

Improvements: Did not need to see the anchors before the open Could have used student SOT in marijuana package, not just officials

Judge 2

Positives: Really nice news open! Way to get out in the community and do stories that affect everyday people.

Improvements: Be careful with the one shot. Don't be afraid to loosen up the shot a bit. Don't be so tight on the anchor. Also the moving graphic behind the OTS is distracting. I would pick one or the other. Don't have a talking head in the OTS box. That's distracting as well. Keep your intro's into stories short. As a viewer, you want to keep my attention. Just talking straight on camera for a long time makes it hard for the viewer to listen.

Positives: Stories shot and edited nicely

Improvements: When choosing a lead story, consider what impacts the majority of your viewers. I would've chosen the auditorium story as my lead. I think it would've been great if there were nat pops in the fall theater story I realized at the end you had 2 anchors. Would've been great if you started the newscast with a 2 shot so we could see both of them.
