  • 4/23 11:41 am - This sports program starts off very well! The audio is crystal-clear and the idea to record a radio show is great. The first video package was put together well. However, the last 4 minutes of the program is a recap of one match that plays rather long in the program. Although the game recap is really well edited, I was left hoping it would get thrown back to the radio show at some point. Overall, great video footage throughout and great editing.
  • 3/17 10:52 am - The audio is spot on- sounds great. The actual video of the guys talking- not so much. It's dark- real dark. If it's a mood you're trying to set, I get it- but you still have to use light so that we can see the subjects in the shot. B-roll was well shot, and interviews looked and sounded good. Noticing jump cuts- if this conversation is edited, you've got to cover those jump cuts up with b-roll or graphics. The show takes a drastic turn at the 3:00 minute mark, where the talk show stops and we go to a long highlight reel. I like how the highlights use announcer talk under them, but you've included a lot of talk that is unnecessary in a highlight reel. This reel then ends the show and we never see the hosts back in the radio station again. The whole structure of the show seems thrown off since we do not get a true closing to the show we tuned into watch. Show has huge potential.
  • 2/26 10:18 am - Professional audio. Good use of b-roll. Nice in studio interview with multiple angles. The radio broadcast footage is really dark, I know it is a style but maybe too dark. There are several jump cuts during the radio broadcast that could be covered with b-roll. Overall, very good. One of the best sports programs this year.

Positives: Really liked the documentary-style breakdown of the rivalry game. Good job on the edit to use announcers to both set the scene pre-game and also explain what's going on throughout. That isn't always an easy thing to go back and match after the fact, and it worked here. Everyone involved definitely knows the team and the players, and that knowledge comes through in the production. Well done.

Improvements: Lighting for the studio/host portion is really dark. I think that's part of what you're going for, but it's too dark for something you spend significant chunks of time in - and then pretty jarring to go back-and-forth to bright highlights on the ice. Use more b-roll, especially on top of interviews. Having a secondary camera angle for the interviews is great, but we don't need to see someone the entire time they're talking.

Positives: - Very cool and non-traditional take of a sports broadcast. Felt like a mix of a broadcast and an episode of ESPN 30 for 30. It was different and well put together with the talent being in a radio studio set up. Loved the different take and was watching it as a piece of cinema instead of a broadcast. Very neat take! - Production value is superb. Great lighting in the interviews and love the high frame rate shots of the in-game action. All audio matched really well. Loved the color gels of lighting on the documentary style interviews.

Improvements: - I would maybe brighten up lighting on the talent just a smidge so we can better see their faces. It's a bit ominous (maybe by design) but it would be easier to listen to and relate to the on air talent. I like the gritty dark room though! Maybe find an in-between on lighting. -During the in-game highlights, the only thing I would do is maybe add suspenseful soundbites throughout the game itself. Loved the pregame and postgame interviews. Maybe sound from before the game or fans reacting could be neat excerpts throughout to draw more suspense.

Positives: Hosts were very knowledgable and carried on a great dicussion. Hockey highlights shot well and used effectively during the chat.

Improvements: I get what they were going for to shoot the roundtable like a radio show, but some of the guys were so dark and in spots that made it hard to see them. Some of the highlights were edited with lots of jump cuts. Some transition effects might have smoothed things out.
