A small way to improve this piece is to show the stat with some infographics or a map of where stores are in relationship to the population. I think a light or some color correction could sharpen the look of your piece as well. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this piece. If you are an underclassman, keep making pieces. If you are a senior, I wish you the best in your future and congratulations!

You made it sound as if there are no grocery stores or restaurants in this area (and maybe there aren’t). but as the story went on I realize that there were no affordable places to get food for people with little or no income. When I hear the term food scarcity or food dessert to me (and where I come from) that means there is a shortage of food overall. Maybe I am just ignorant and don’t know what this term means, but then early on it should have been defined. Again, “food insecurity” is just not a word I hear all the time, so I am not sure exactly what you are saying. I think your story had a very professional look about it, you did a great job of gathering and arranging interviews that would tell your story. I also don’t feel like any of those interviews went on to long they each added a piece the story you were trying to unfold. I would have loved a part of this story where you told the viewer what they can do to help. You gathered up all these people who are trying to make a difference, however you never tell us what we can do to help them (drop off food at a food bank, donate money, donate time etc.). I think you have and know how to use all the tools at your disposal, you really did a nice job pulling everything together, just make sure you don’t get so invested in your story, that you take for granted what the first time viewer is coming to the story with (which will never be nearly as much as you know) so start where they are at and build from there. Brianna, I don’t doubt you will create some great stuff down the road , I wish I had you in my class !
