  • 4/23 6:42 pm - I like that you chose a unique topic to highlight. I second the comments below and do not want to be redundant. This was one of my favorite pieces. You remind me of a CBS 2 reporter in Chicago with what you are wearing, the way your shots were tracked, and the investigative nature of the topic you are exploring. If you are an underclassman, keep making pieces. If you are a senior, I wish you the best in your future and congratulations!
  • 3/16 8:19 pm - It was hard to know what the story was exactly about, was it about Trump, Fake News, Freedom of the Press, or Big Bus tours in Chicago? No, I understand they are related (except the bus tour), but it was distracting as the story went on because while you eluded to what the story was about, I don’t know that it was clearly enough stated (the first 50 seconds seemed more about trump and not so much about freedom of the press. So as an audience at the end of the story I kept wondering if we were coming back to trump, fake news etc. In your introduction I feel like you need to be more direct. A story like this that seems to call out bias and inequities, seemed very one sided itself. It felt like there was a lot of blaming going on, and as a result I couldn’t help but wonder is there a reason for the controversy and what arguments might the other side have. I guess it overall felt more attacking, than just stating facts and letting your audience draw the conclusions. Again, the message seemed a little jumbled , it seemed about fake news, but then near the end your conclusion was talking about technology and the role it plays, which seemed like a new idea you were introducing verses a concluding remark. Your locations and individual pieces (supporting interviews) of the story were nice (your use of authentic looking graphics was amazing), but I just never saw it all coming together in harmony to tell/explain a story that flows. It could have been your subject matter was to broad, or you didn’t provide transitional statements in-between each interview to connect the pieces together.
