  • 4/4 7:57 pm - Nice pre-pro. That may have been the first tip-off I've ever viewed where I couldn't see the hand touch the ball. And the first shot I've ever viewed where I couldn't see the shooter. :29 - the bottom of the frame, combined with the score banner, is cutting off that poor player at the waist. Stay with the wide/up-cam until the ball falls through the hoop or falls away from the hoop. More great pre-pro. Teams who have scored no points are referred to as "nothing" in the running score. (Two-nothing, twelve-nothing, etc.) 1:44 - generally too tight in this shot; all I can see are heads and arms flailing at 1:46. Good use of floor cams during FTs and FGs. 2:35 - have to see the ball all the time; floor cams only work for live action from the corner - where the pans don't have to be as violently-quick because the ball doesn't travel as far; when the cam is dead-under the basket, the action from side-to-side is too quick. 2:50 - floor cam doesn't work when people are running away from it. Good announcers.

Positives: The score bug is nice. It's big enough that we don't have to squint to see which team is which. The color analyst is quite knowledgeable about the players on the floor.

Improvements: The play-by-play announcer is calling this like it's radio more than TV. He's taking each play and narrating it rather than building storylines and talking to the analyst. The Keys to the Game is a nice idea and look good, but they showed up abruptly before the announcer can walk them up.

Positives: Good use of giving keys to the game. Nice diverse camera work. The broadcasting tandem was in sync good knowledge on own team.

Improvements: Important to learn the names of the opposing team, using just numbers shows lack of preparation. Could use more crowd noise if possible.

Judge 3

Positives: The talent sounded knowledgeable and engaging. The camera angles even though limited to 3 are used well to follow the action. The score-strip graphic in the lower-third is simple and useful.

Improvements: I am hearing natural sounds of the court and crowd, but not sure if they are all being picked up by the talent mics. Adding in more of the natural sounds will help smooth out the audio-scape. Some of the camera shots were slow to follow the player or too tight zoomed in missing some of the action. The score-strip CG graphic looks good, however I would scale it down a bit so it doesn't stretch across the entire lower-third of the screen. Try playing with taking out the saturation of the clock camera to reduce the orange color of the clock numbers to appear white to match the color scheme of the score-strip.
