Positives: I enjoyed your integration of all the elements of the film challenge, they felt very natural and part of the story. Bonus points for using the cheese grater in your lighting to convey the idea of stars. You camera shots for Luca on the bike were well done and really had a cinematic look to them.
Improvements: The story was an interesting premise/setup but I felt like it didn't go anywhere. There wasn't much of an arc. There especially no arc or conflict for the parents. One minute they were telling Luca he needed to take care of his responsibilities and the next they were giving him a pizza as if nothing was wrong, there was no real indication of what shifted. The sound needed a lot of work, there was a lot of variation in room tone and the sound balance kept shifting between the left and right channels for no reason. Generally needed a lot more sound mixing.
Positives: Charming little film. Nice musical score. 0:05 good opening shot. 1:46 light flares work well for this story
Improvements: 2:06 I feel like here was an opportunity to experiment with visuals, to get inside the mind of the character as he imagines being in flight 2:31 a closeup shot of his drawing would have been nice. Perhaps even, several previous drawings taped to the wall of his treehouse. Best wishes in all future endeavors. #makemovieshappen
Positives: This was a great concept, and I thought you did a very good job of delivering the story. The idea of dreaming was well played, and the excitement of the boy is portrayed very well. This is a major credit to the director. The camera work is great and the colors jump off of the screen.
Improvements: It is important to watch the audio at times it is very distracting and takes away from the film. One of the issues with the audio is that it is not surrounded so you do not hear it in both ears. This is an easy fix for the future. A minor thing is that I might try to develop the parents even more or work on the connections between them and their son. I see it, but it could be even stronger. This is the emotional attachment that the viewer is looking for, and we get it with the pizza at the end. I just wish there was more before to draw me in more.
