2/24 9:57 am - Overall, the audio was very consistent and clean, which is important considering your subject. The camera work for the primary studio interview seemed a little bit out of focus / soft focus, which I'm guessing is actually more related to your lighting. Your subject (Mr. Gorton) is in a dark studio control room and wearing a hat, which means you needed to add more light. For starters, a SOFT key light at eye level would have eliminated the shadow from his hat visor, and a backlight would have separated him from the background a little more. A fill light off camera left would have helped fill in the shadow on his face and neck as well. Your b-roll was excellent; I loved the clearly lit producers, the abstract shots of the mixing board and other studio features.
2/22 8:26 am - Subject is dark on all primary interview
shots because auto-iris is closing from
the monitor over his right shoulder.
What does eliminating chroma add to
the visual storytelling? Apparent singing
at :14 but I can’t hear the singer.
No shot of the daughter?
Mix of b-roll improved from first 10 seconds.
This is the first story I’ve ever watched
about a segment of the music industry
which featured no actual music or singing;
no natsot pops.
