Positives: Great diversity in your shots and lighting situations. Lighting at :13, :23, and :59 especially look great, well lit and framed.
Improvements: Shots at 1:13 look alright but the lighting looks a bit flat and theatrical, could be improved. The shots of the kids on the couch from the film at :21 look a bit flat in the lighting. In general the quality of the shots from this film don't match the quality from the work in the reel.
Positives: Good choice of music. Nice variety of shots. Good use of slow motion. 00:07 nice opening shots. start off strong on your reel. the challenge is to make your entire reel live up to the promise of your opening shot. 0:41 nice silouette with color
Improvements: 0:27 I feel this is a throwaway shot. you can give us better. 0:50 subject needs to be lit. Best wishes in all future endeavors. #makemovieshappen
Positives: The kid with a big smile, and the huge black puffy hood on, that was absolutely beautifully captured, well done. I’d be very interested in seeing what stories you could tell through music videos, I feel like you have an eye for it.
Improvements: All right, so the kid sitting on the couch, it’s shot beautifully, and then a few clips later he’s running down the street, it’s grainy, it’s probably shot on a different camera, consistency is key. If you jump between two different cameras, your film is going to have a different look and texture in every shot, and the audience is going to notice that, and when they do notice that, it’s going to take them out of your film. Lighting, I can’t stress it enough, take your time, as much as you need, and light your shot correctly Aside from all this, you should be very proud of your work
