Edited for MMEA, this reel accompanies my creative visions in pacing, framing, style, and movement. Multiple projects were pulled from including my dramatic narrative, commercial, movie trailer, and montage. • 4/29 9:11 am - Pros - Nice composition and framing throughout. Your closeup work is notable and is one of the strengths of your reel. Night exteriors had creative uses of light from street lamp to fire to sparklers. The street lamp worked particularly well to edge your subject. Strong camera movement in the library sequence and beach/dunes overlook. Cons - Some technical aspects worked against you. The focus in many of the low light situations struggled to keep the subject or point of focus sharp with such a shallow depth of field. This is due mostly to under exposure of the overall scene, which muddled the contrast, especially in the red scene and a bit with the sparklers, and made the entire frame look soft. Adding or subtracting light to control your contrast will greatly improve your focal control. Watch camera level, especially in shots with clearly defined vertical lines like the opening shot of your reel. Suring up some of these small technical issues will greatly strengthen you already strong creative work.
• 4/6 12:58 pm - A lot of similar shots, but it was good to see a variant use of light with a few to illuminate faces, silhouettes, and other creative features. Try to eliminate the soft focus and auto focus jerks as well as the stabilization issues as they are distracting and fundamental to a great reel.
